Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that is provided upon booking confirmation or vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance provisions, charges, and your obligations for the rental period. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the provisions in the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To hire a vehicle in Potters Bar, you must be at least 21 years old. Note that age limits may differ based on the vehicle type, and additional fees may apply for drivers under 25. A valid full driving license suitable for the vehicle class is required, along with proof of identity and current address. Valid payment details and a security deposit are necessary, as well as any further stipulations outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payments in Potters Bar
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or in person at our Potters Bar office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally required upon vehicle collection. All charges are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards through secure payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, a comprehensive inspection is required to identify any pre-existing damage, which must be reported immediately. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document the state of the car. It is expected that the vehicle be returned in the same condition as it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. If any new damage is found upon return, charges will be assessed accordingly. The vehicle should also be returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling charges will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may incur additional fees, so it is advisable to contact us as soon as you anticipate any delay. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
5. Insurance and Responsibility
- All car rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Comprehensive coverage specifics, along with excess amounts, are detailed in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to minimize your financial risk. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You are accountable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount, unless you opt for additional coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise details, please refer to your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rented Vehicle
- Using our vehicles for any unlawful activities is strictly prohibited. Engaging in racing, off-roading, or any hazardous practices is not allowed. The transport of dangerous materials, sub-letting to unauthorized parties, or permitting unapproved drivers is also forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. Please adhere to vehicle specifications regarding passenger and weight limits, and refrain from driving outside the designated geographical area without prior consent.
Breach of terms may lead to immediate rental cancellation and fees.
Limitation of Responsibility
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Potters Bar will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business that may arise from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the total amount paid for the rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
